Read-a-thon survival!
Well, we made it to page 222, the very end of Chapter 11. We saw the demise of 3 supporting characters. We ate a ton of food- thanks to Fred Reichert for his very kind donation and volunteering to read. Volunteers read for 30 minutes segments - thank you to all who faced those hard names & vocabulary words. Others came to listen and knit or crochet during the readings. We had a total of 9 copies of Deathly Hallows to raffle off - special thanks to Pat Kelly-Evans & Bill Evans for their donated copy! We also raffled away 5 copies of Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter as well as 3 hand knit Hogwarts school scarves.

Raining Art
ACPPA Community Art Center held their first summer workshop last Thursday. Children ages 5-9 became rainmakers by creating their own rainstick. Even these siblings had fun together!
Tonight will be workshop for ages 8 to 11 called: Masterpiece Pieces: Collage Reproductions of Famous Artwork. We can't wait to see the fabulous masterpieces created by our very talented patrons!

Harry Potter Read-a-Thon
Please join us on Saturday at 9 am to hear the latest and last Harry Potter tale read aloud by friends and staff of the library. We will keep reading all day until we close at 5 pm. Refreshments, prize drawings, activities, and a knit-a-thon too! Every hour you will have a chance to win a copy of Deathly Hallows, Charmed Knits, and other cool prizes - but you must be present to win!
Knitters & crocheters can join in and yarn away the day while listening. We have patterns for Hogwarts School Scarves - there are even a few of those already done to win!
Bring your yarn, a pillow, and a good ear and we shall see what happens to Harry and his friends in their final year at Hogwarts.

Dog Days of Summer Reading
The Dog Days of Summer Reading were in full swing on Saturday in the Youth Services Department. Families came in to beat the heat and dogs came in to Roll Over and Read.

Even the shy came out of their shells to try something new at the library. Kids see the dogs and are sometimes afraid, but these dogs are the best. Shiloh, the white husky, made his debut as a listener. You can see that husky smile creeping around the corner of his mouth as he is adored by his newest fan. Fergus, the Irish Wolfhound, fell in love with the littlest reader and Seymour listens intently while being read aloud an awesome dog story.
